A Photographer's Selfie

In August of 2013, the word “selfie” was added to the Oxford Dictionary.

It is defined as “photograph that one has taken of oneself, typically one taken with a smartphone or webcam and shared via social media

Not only is “selfie” now an official and recognized word, but in November of 2013, the Oxford dictionary actually named “selfie” the international word of the year. Selfies have saturated social media and the photo galleries of smartphones everywhere. As a photographer, the concept of a selfie is nothing new to me. Selfies are essentially just quick and dirty self-portraits. To contrast selfie culture, I took the time to take a few formal studio portraits of my self. These are my “selfies” if you will.
